Usually they find stuff the same we do just they just have to check sources, properly write stuff and submit to whoever the editor is. Does feel weird getting sniped though.

Most of the time when stuff like this (the aircraft carrier) gets posted to Oppo it’s something that the poster saw on facebook or twitter. I know this probably comes as a shock, but the staff writers also have facebook and twitter. Not only that but they follow a lot of the same pages and twitter accounts that we do.

Yeah, definitely.

Contrary to popular belief, the internet is a huge place and the same things that Oppo gets interested in are generally passed all around to all the other people and places who are interested in the same stuff.

We credit Oppo with a H/T if we actually find things here first, but a lot of the times..........that’s a nope. Sorry, not sorry. I can only make a H/T back here if it’s a genuine Oppo find.

No good incentive to really work on something. I won’t spend 5 hours on a peice for Oppo but if it’s something good enough that could reach a broader audience I’d be more interested.

FWIW, I miss more frequent shares of the good meat as well, but it’s not my call. I do think it made both places just a little bit better, though. More incentive to write good stuff on Oppo. More of a feeling that you’re part of the community on the FP.
